Modern Day Slavery
Pearson was a founder signatory to the UN Global Compact in 2001.
The 10 principles of the Global Compact include the rejection of forced and compulsory labour alongside other fundamental responsibilities in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. Ever since, we have monitored our performance against both the principles and a set of commitments we made relating to the UN Global Compact and report annually on our progress.
As such, Pearson already has policies and procedures in place to check that the products and services supplied to us are Modern Slavery free. We will comply with the requirement under the Modern Slavery Act in the UK to issue a slavery and human trafficking statement that will first be introduced to cover the 2016 Financial Year.
