Our team

Our Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) team is a central, global resource within Human Resources and is staffed by executives and advisors.

We want to have scalable, sustainable impact, so our team is a global network of Global Diversity & Inclusion Advocates, full-time employees who apply for and are selected to help implement our global D&I principles in their local businesses and offices.

In addition to our dedicated team, we expect every employee to be a D&I practitioner and help ensure that all colleagues are valued and included in our organizational work.

Our goals

Our Diversity & Inclusion efforts are focused on three primary areas: our people, our culture, and our learners. We strive to embed D&I principles into all business processes and practices.

We seek to:

  • Attract top talent by being broadly viewed as an inclusive employer
  • Build a culture of innovation and learning where every idea and perspective is valued
  • Build close relationships with our customers and learners
  • Ensure that our people and products reflect who we are and whom we serve
  • Develop inclusive products, services, and solutions — such as Be Gender Intelligent — for our customers

Employee Resource Groups

Pearson’s employee resource groups (ERGs) give employees opportunities for networking, increased engagement, professional development, and mentorship, and also to contribute to Pearson’s business goals.

ERGs consist of colleagues around the world who join Pearson’s efforts to embed diversity and inclusion into all aspects of our business. Every ERG has a clear mission, charter, and by-laws and is facilitated by our D&I team.

Corporate Equality Index

For three consecutive years, Pearson received a perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) workplace equality in the U.S., making our company a designated Best Place To Work for LGBT colleagues and allies.

Dave Thomas Foundation’s Top 100 Adoption-Friendly Workplaces

In the US, Pearson was awarded a spot on the Dave Thomas Foundation’s list of the Top 100 Adoption-Friendly Workplaces in 2014 & 2015. The Foundation’s list measures benefits offered to adoptive families as well as workplace culture, and allowing for time for adoptive parent/employees to adjust to their new families.

WorldatWork Alliance for Work-Life Progress Seal of Distinction

In 2015, Pearson was awarded the WorldatWork Work-Life Seal of Distinction, which recognizes employers who demonstrate leadership in creating a culture that supports employees at work and at home.
