Why does learning matter to you?
I majored in Sociology and minored in Art History. Many people have asked why, when I could have chosen something more “practical.” Quite simply, it made me curious. Studying the culture that surrounds everyday life, viewing and thinking about the world's greatest masterpieces. It made me want to read more, talk to more people, travel and see more. Feeding curiosity is what learning is all about. And having a job where you’re helping people be more curious is so rewarding.
What are you learning currently?
I’m trying to figure out how to put sleeves on a sleeveless dress. I’ve figured out collars and pockets. I just haven’t nailed the sleeves. Pandemic nights are good for sewing. I’m also learning about the West Coast Gold Rush in New Zealand through the book, The Luminaries. I love books that require character mapping.
How are you always learning?
By always staying curious.
