Atmospheric CO2 has been increasing rapidly since the late 1800s, largely due to human activities. Recall that CO2 enters leaves through stomata and can then be used for photosynthesis. However, transpiration occurs as a result of water evaporating through stomata. How have plants responded to elevated CO2 levels?

Assuming that the CO2 level continues to increase with time, how likely are plants to be able to continue to adapt by adjusting stomatal conductance?

Hello everyone here's our next question. Plants are adjusted to increasing global warming by and as we look over all our answer choices, we see they all have to do with the model conductance with one of our answer choices being none of the above. So keep will keep that in mind. So let's recall from our content video what's to model conductance is and this refers to as water leaves the plant through open hamada that causes movement of fluids through the vascular system of the plant up from the roots. Um There's guard cells around this tomato that can close them cause them to lose less water. We know that for instance um some of the some types of succulents close this tomato during the day to reduce water usage. But again with a shortage of water, plants will want to decrease there's two model conductance. So let's look at our answer choices and we see that choice A. Says reducing the rate of Star model conductance. So that would be our answer here. It's like choice A choice B says increasing the rate of two model conductance. Obviously that would not be our answers that would result in increased water loss by the plant. Choice C. Keeping schtum model conductance at a constant level. Um not our answer.
