So if a population is established in a new habitat with an abundance of resources what kind of growth will exhibit, Remember that we have this abundance of resources. Another way that we can just say this or explain it is that we have unlimited resources now. Usually it is a lack of resources and the presence of predators that are going to slow down the growth of a population. However let's look at it in this way let's imagine that we have a population of certain bacteria. There are going to be dividing generation by generation. So in generation one we have 10 of these bacteria. In generation two we have 20 of these bacteria in generation three will have 40 of them and so on. As you can see this growth is going to be what we call exponential growth because we have unlimited resources. There's no and there's nothing preying on these bacteria. They're going to be able to exhibit this type of growth called exponential growth where it is not a logistic type of growth. Instead it is growing more and more as generations pass.
