Structural Formula
Hey, guys. So here we're asked to convert the following structural formula into the carbon skeleton formula, otherwise known as a coolie structure. Also, besides these two terms off carbon skeleton formula and can coolly structure where sometimes calling it the bond blind structure or formula. So in a bond line structure, we don't show Cardin's and we don't show the hydrogen is connected to those Cardin's to make things easier for us to understand. So this will form our chain. And because there's an oxygen in between the carbon oxygen is part of the chain as well as this. Nitrogen hydrogen will never be part of the change, so we have carbon. 123455 and that's it. So we're gonna say here, carbon one, we don't show it, so use this dot It's connected to two Oxygen's. It's double bonded toe one, and it's connected to single bonded to another that oxygen. That single bond. It has an H on it, so that's carbon one carbon to has on it to hydrogen, which we do not show carbon to is connected to an oxygen. We do have to show that then that oxygen's connected a carbon three, which we don't show it. Hydrogen is again same with carbon four and carbon five. Carbon five now is connected to the nitrogen, and we do have to show it. Plus, the hydrogen is connected to it. So this will represent our bomb line structure, our carbon skeleton structure and our Cooley structure. Again, you cannot show carbons in this type of form, and you can't show the hydrogen is connected to those carbons. So this would be our structure and the correct answer for this question.
