Hello everyone today. We have the following problem. The phase diagram below shows the partial vapor pressure curves for two liquids a a pure solvent and be the solvent mixed with the non violence. How salute. Which has a higher boiling point, the solvent or the solution. So first we want to denote what is normal boiling point. Normal boiling point is essentially the temperature At which a liquid boils at one atmosphere. So it's the temperature at which a liquid boils at one atmosphere. If we look on the y axis here where we have our one atmosphere and we trace it along, we see that we have this spot here for the solvent and we have this spot here for the temperature from this, we can note that the solution will end up having the higher temperature and therefore can conclude that our answer will be be the solution has a higher boiling point because the temperature at one atmosphere is larger than that of the solvent.
