Hey everyone in this example, we need to identify which block of the periodic table the atom iridium is located at. So we're going to draw out a quick sketch of our periodic table. So we have Group one a group two A. We have a separation here. Then we have something in the middle here of a periodic table. Where then we have another section. We have our noble gas section and then we have the end and this should actually be a bit shorter. Sorry? So we have our noble gas section should be a bit higher. We have the end of our periodic table here and then we have another section of our periodic table where we have our two different groups of elements. The first known as the lantern I'D series beginning with the adam lengthen ium and then the second beginning with the atom Act any um where we have our actinides series elements. And I'll actually go ahead and use this in the color red. So we want to go ahead and label our different blocks on our periodic table. We should recall that this block, combined with our adam helium up here distinguishes R. S. Block. The next section of our periodic table that we have to label is our D. Block here in the middle which contains all of our transition metals As well as contains from period six, which you recall are the rows across our periodic table Has our lantern eyed series which would actually again begin in the d. block here in period six. And then at period seven of our periodic table in the D. Block, we have some of our act any um or actinides series elements. So this would categorize our D. Block, however part of our land tonight and tonight series elements are also categorized as being in the F. Block. And so this section is considered our F. Block here. So next we just have one last section to label on our periodic tables. And this would be known as our P. Block where RP orbital's are in our periodic table. And so now that we have all of these blocks labeled in our periodic table, we want to find where your D. M. Is located. To answer this question. When we find them on the periodic table, we're looking for the atom iR corresponding to atomic number 77 on the periodic table. So when we find the atom with the atomic number 77 we would land on air dam and we would see that it's located within our D. Block. And so because it has the atomic number 77 we see that it's therefore in the D. Block of the periodic table. And so this would be our final answer. To complete this example because we have determined that your dam is located in the D. Block which is the transition metal section of our periodic table. So this completes this example.
