Okay. Hi everyone. So for this question we have to show the expected major product for the reaction given below. And we are given what is called an asal chloride. This is an acid chloride and we're reacting it with something that looks a little scary and the name is even scarier. This is lithium Try tribute Toxie aluminum hydride. I know that was a lot. But it's okay now. What I want to bring to your attention if you recall is that this re agent right here? This um yeah, this re agent. It looks an awful lot like lithium aluminum hydride. And recall that lithium aluminum hydride is an incredibly strong um reducing agent. So if we were to have this ASA chloride react with lithium aluminum hydride, it would reduce it all the way to a primary alcohol. But um this lithium try to detox the aluminum hydride. That was a mouthful was is sorry, a milder reducing agent because notice how it only has one hydrogen instead of the four that lithium aluminum hydrate has. So what that means is that this a cell chloride would actually be reduced to an al to hide instead that chloride would get substituted with the hydrogen. So our final product ends up looking like this. The rest of the molecule is untouched except for that chlorine which is replaced with an oxygen.
