All right. Hi everyone. So for this question it's asking us to predict the products of the following electro filic aromatic substitution reaction. So the question is um explicitly tells us that we have electro filic aromatic substitution or E A S for short. Right? And we are adding an all kill group to Halloween, right, Which is an aromatic system. So if we're adding an Aqil group to an aromatic system, then this is a case of Friedel crafts occupation, right. We are calculating this aromatic ring, we are adding an alcohol group to it. So with that being said, the question then becomes, where is it going to be? Right, Where are we going to add this Akio group in our ring? And in order to answer that question, we have to consider the effect of existing substitue ints on the positioning of new ones. So our substitute print here in our bending ring is going to be one single method group. Right? And recall that methyl groups as well as um all killed groups in general. They are what we call activating groups. Now they're activating groups because they donate electron density towards the ring, making it more reactive. Right. Activating it, so to speak. Right? So this turk bugle group in particular is going to experience a lot of Starik hindrance, a lot of crashing with the method group, if they're in the Ortho position, right? Because the tribunal group is pretty big, so it's going to crash up against the Methyl group a lot when it's in the Ortho position. But in the para position across the ring on the other side of the ring from the Methyl group there's not as much Starik hindrance. So this goes for any substitution. It doesn't have to be something large like a torpedo group. But the turk butoh group um here perfectly illustrates how the para position is more comfortable for everybody, right? Because there's in general going to be way less Starik hindrance then if you're in the Ortho position.
