Let's solve this problem and says, make a model of N butane C four H 10 and use wedges and dash lines to represent bonds coming forward and going back respectively to draw the model of N butane. Okay, well first I'm going to just draw it out two dimensional so we can see what it looks like. So four carbons, it's just our four carbon chain with 10 hydrogen. And notice that the number of hydrogen is follows that equation two N plus two. Or to see Times 2, 2 n plus two. So we know this is fully saturated, right? Where and is the number of carbons. So two times four is eight plus two is 10. So this is a fully saturated al caine chain. Okay, so now to draw the three D model where we have wedges and dashes, you're going to pretend like this middle chain here including those two end hydrogen is maybe like your neighbor's fence, like a fence in between you and your neighbor's house and the top hydrogen. I'm just saying the top because that's what it looks like here. Those are your neighbors hydrogen. So they're on one side of the fence and your hydrogen czar on the other side of the fence. Okay, so if you are looking this way, you'll see that these middle atoms are all in line and then you have some some hydrogen is on one side and some hydrogen is on the other side. So that's sort of how we're going to draw this, we're gonna draw first r chain that's in the middle including those in hydrogen. Then we'll draw the hydrogen pointing toward us as wedges and then the hydrogen is pointing away from us as dash is. Okay, so let's draw this out. So we always draw our chains At a bent angle to account for hysteric effects when we're doing a 3D drawing. So there's our chain and then let's do the hydrogen that are wedge. So notice each carbon has a wedge hydrogen. Okay, so although this carbon will have a hydrogen, that's technically point, it looks like it's pointing the other way, we're still making it wedge. Okay, so it's going to be on the same plane as this hydrogen and we draw them in opposite directions to again account for the hysteric effects. So now we'll add the four hydrogen that are dashed pointing in that same direction again for hysteric effects, right? Because if we added them here, that's too cramped to these carbon carbon bonds. Okay, so again, if you look this way, you'll see that the there are four hydrogen is pointing towards you on one side and four hydrogen is that are pointing towards your neighbor's house on the other side.
