There is general consensus that to remain economically competitive depends ability of a country’s postsecondary institutions to equip graduates with the necessary tools to adapt to the global workplace. As a result, institutions of higher education are increasingly looking to new models of teaching and reforming existing methods.

Skills for Today: What We Know about Teaching and Assessing Collaboration

Despite the importance of teamwork and collaboration skills, however, there is a long-standing concern that institutions of higher education are not producing graduates with the collaboration skills needed to succeed on the job. This paper, a collaboration between Partnership for 21st Century Learning (P21) and Pearson, discusses current conceptual approaches to collaboration, research on interventions, and promising assessment strategies.
