Provisional BTEC Level 2 Results for 2016

Today, to coincide with GCSE results day, Pearson are issuing some provisional statistics on Level 2 BTEC Results for 2016. Full results will be issued in the autumn.

BTECs are the UK's most popular vocational qualification, taken by over 330,000 Level 2 students (GCSE equivalent) this year.

333,282 students completed a Level 2 BTEC for 2015/16, compared to 579,915 in 2014/15. This decrease largely reflects anticipated changes in registrations following changes to accountability measures.

  • Applied Science 68,056
  • Sport 57,925
  • Business 35,324
  • Health and Social Care 34,262
  • Information Technology 33,798

The provisional data indicates that the five Level 2 BTEC NQF Extended Certificate subjects which saw the biggest increases in registrations were:

  • Health & Social Care – 4179 students
  • ICT – 2539 students
  • Business – 1866 students
  • Sport – 1173 students
  • Creative Media – 1169 students
