Pearson today announces changes to the Pearson Affordable Learning Fund (PALF), a fund set up to help children from underserved communities in the developing world access quality education in a cost effective, profitable and scalable manner.
As Sir Michael Barber departs Pearson to take on new challenges, the PALF Managing Director Katelyn Donnelly has also decided to pursue opportunities outside the company.
Mark Chernis, Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Investments at Pearson, will now take on leadership of the Fund. Mark has huge experience in leading and scaling up innovative education businesses. Arvind Nagarajan, currently PALF Investment Director, will take on the interim management of the PALF team, reporting to Mark.
Kate James, Chief Corporate Affairs & Global Marketing Officer at Pearson, and executive sponsor of PALF, said: “With the expertise of the PALF team and our partners in the field, we believe we can continue to make a lasting contribution to improving educational access and outcomes around the world.
“PALF will continue to explore new ways to help children in the world’s poorest regions access a quality education in a cost effective and scalable manner.”
