There is general consensus that to remain economically competitive depends ability of a country’s postsecondary institutions to equip graduates with the necessary tools to adapt to the global workplace. As a result, institutions of higher education are increasingly looking to new models of teaching and reforming existing methods.

Learning Outcomes for Post-Secondary

Universities and colleges are increasingly being asked to provide evidence that they are sufficiently preparing graduates to meet the demands of the 21st century. Regularly assessing learning outcomes mastery will enable postsecondary institutions to evaluate the efficacy of their instructional strategies and provide evidence that graduates are equipped to succeed in the 21st century.

In the past decade, developmental education has come under increased examination by stakeholders. This paper provides a summary of the literature on current reform efforts in developmental education. It explores the history, advantages and criticisms, as well as recommendations for improvement.
