How do the subscriptions work?

Let’s be honest, things always change. That’s why ActiveLearn Primary subscriptions are based on bands of students who will be accessing the platform. This gives you some flexibility for when student numbers change and ensures your students always have the access they need to keep learning.

Can I buy print and digital combined?

Yes, you can buy any combination of print titles, plus a digital subscription to suit your school. For instance, you could purchase Bug Club print books as a level value pack and then a digital subscription to all Bug Club books based on the number of students requiring access.

Why do I need print?

For young children especially, physical printed books can be useful for developing fine motor skills and for understanding reading conventions, such as holding a book, turning pages and reading from left to right. They can also be useful when technology is not prevalent in the home or for guided reading sessions in the classroom.

Why do I need an online subscription?

An online subscription allows learning to take place wherever access to a connected device is available. Perfect for face-to-face teaching, remote teaching and learning, or learning from home, ActiveLearn Primary provides a giant repository of teaching and learning materials, with in-depth tracking, assessment and reporting built in. Teachers can easily search and allocate readers to students and then clearly track and report on their reading progress. They can also access guided reading notes and blackline masters for each book which can be downloaded or displayed on an interactive whiteboard or screen. For students, it’s where they can find allocated books, interactive activities and games – and earn rewards as they go. There are also additional supports for students such as audio narration and automatic feedback on quizzes. Plus, there is one easy login to access the learning world from the classroom and home.

We mainly use print books in our school. How can I access the digital teaching resources to support Bug Club?

A teacher-only ActiveLearn Primary subscription is available, giving teachers access to all the Guided Reading Notes and Blackline Masters. Books can also be displayed on an interactive whiteboard or screen for whole class modelling or guided reading sessions.

Can I try ActiveLearn Primary before I buy?

Why do I need an online subscription?

The interactive experience that the eBooks provide is very beneficial for students, families and teachers. The eBooks offer audio narration to assist with modelling at home and feature embedded comprehension quizzes where students receive immediate feedback. Students earn rewards as they read which can motivate many students to read more. Teachers find the tracking and reporting functionality invaluable as they can see exactly how students are progressing. Where technology is available, they can also prevent ‘take home readers’ being lost or damaged.
