Congratulations Craigieburn South Primary School,
winner of Pearson's Primary Literacy
Resource Competition!
Thank you to all those who shared a part of their school’s story by entering the Pearson Primary Literacy Resource Competition. You allowed a team of passionate education consultants the chance to support literacy learning at your school and to learn more about how we can help primary schools across Australia.
Please join us in congratulating Craigieburn South Primary School in Victoria, winners of up to $8,500 of Fountas & Pinnell LiteracyTM resources!
Judging was not an easy task for the Pearson Literacy Resource Competition judging panel, but Craigieburn South Primary School’s entry shared how they would use the Fountas & Pinnell LiteracyTM resources to help provide targeted intervention and tutoring for students who had been particularly disadvantaged as a result of lockdown and were in danger of falling behind their peers.
Their entry showed an enthusiasm for, and solid understanding of, how the Fountas & Pinnell LiteracyTM resources would complement their school-wide approach to literacy learning, giving the judging panel confidence in the genuine impact these resources would have for teachers and students at Craigieburn South.

Proud winners of Pearson’s 2021 Primary Literacy Resource Competition, Craigieburn South Primary School began using their new Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) system in Term 1, 2022.
LLI is a small-group, supplementary intervention system designed for children who find reading and writing difficult. It is designed to bring children quickly up to grade-level competency—in 14 to 18 weeks on average.
For their prize, Craigieburn South’s Sarah Winter selected the LLI Green system for year 1 students at Levels A-K, to provide targeted intervention and tutoring for students who had been particularly disadvantaged because of lockdowns.
Stay tuned to find out how the system impacts student outcomes throughout the rest of the year.
