What it is
Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention is a powerful, short-term intervention that provides daily, intensive small group instruction, which supplements classroom literacy teaching.
LLI empowers both educators and learners as you work together toward attaining reading and writing proficiency using:

Fountas & Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System
Leveled Literacy Intervention relies on careful assessment of instructional and independent reading levels. Precise initial assessments better identify when intensive support is required which allows for more effective teaching.
We recommend schools use the Fountas & Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System (BAS) to ensure this precision. The BAS provides critical information on a child's reading strengths and needs in the areas of processing strategies, comprehension, and fluency.
For schools without access to the Fountas & Pinnell BAS, other benchmark assessments or alternative assessments available to you can be used.
