Caterpillar hungry for Jumpstart
One Million 'Very Hungry Caterpillar' Readers to Break World Record
This autumn, the Pearson Foundation and Jumpstart will join forces again to raise thousands of dollars during the fourth annual Read for the Record campaign. On October 8, over one million children and adults will read a limited edition of this year's official campaign book, Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar, featuring an introduction from Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira of NBC's TODAY show - available in both English-language and Spanish-language versions and special forewords for parents contributed by musician and actor LL Cool J and actress Mary-Louise Parker.
The Pearson Foundation will donate more than 200,000 copies of The Very Hungry Caterpillar to children in need across the US and abroad, while Pearson people, pupils and parents across the globe will attempt to smash the record for the world's largest shared reading experience set by these events just last year.
