First MedTech qualifications built by regional skills experts to address employer need

The interim report is an important step towards better preparing young people for the future. We’re pleased to see recognition of many of the key areas that need to be addressed and encourage the government to go further during the next stage of the review in order to ensure high standards for all and drive the meaningful change young people deserve.

On 12 December 2024, the DfE published the outcomes of the Review of Qualifications Reform at Level 3 in England. This confirms which qualifications will be funded for 16–19 learners in England for the academic years 2025/26 and 2026/27.

Today, the DfE published the outcome of their review of post-16 qualification reform. The aim of the review was to determine which qualifications will be funded for 16-19 learners in England for the 2025/26 academic year.

In the Labour conference today, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson announced a new growth and skills levy which will replace the existing apprenticeship levy and include ‘new foundation apprenticeships’. 

In July the DfE announced an immediate pause and review of the post-16 vocational qualification reform in England.
