Bond is back
One hundred years after the birth of James Bond creator Ian Fleming, Penguin Books in Britain on 28 May published Devil May Care, by author Sebastian Faulks, the latest instalment in the saga of Agent 007. The novel, set in a 1960s Cold War setting, was launched in a London extravaganza, with a cat suited "Bond girl" bringing the first seven copies down the River Thames on a Royal Navy boat escorted by helicopters.
"I found writing this light-hearted book more thrilling than I had expected," said Sebastian Faulks. "I hope people will enjoy reading it and that Ian Fleming would consider it to be in the cavalier spirit of his own novels." In addition to Devil May Care, Penguin will also reissue in hardback all 14 of Ian Fleming's original Bond novels, from Casino Royale to Goldfinger and The Spy Who Loved Me, with brand new covers.
