The first Puffin picture books were hatched in 1940 and the first story book featured a man with broomstick arms called Worzel Gummidge. Since then the little yellow Puffin logo has become one of the world's most iconic and recognised children's book brands.
To celebrate 70 years, Puffin is publishing a range of special books for all ages, from Pocket Money Puffins – new stories by top Puffin authors – to relaunched Puffin Modern Classics, to two glorious volumes for adults looking at Puffin's past, present and future: So Much to Tell: The Story of Kaye Webb, Puffin's Greatest Editor and Puffin by Design, a look at Puffin's amazing design heritage.
Look out for other birthday celebrations, including National Puffin Share-a-Story Day and free copies of The Puffin Handbook – the perfect little guide to the 70 best books for children.
Find out how you can join in the celebrations at www.puffin.co.uk and come back in June to see the new digital archive containing exclusive podcasts, interviews and written material by some of Puffin's top authors and illustrators including Charlie Higson, Eoin Colfer, Cathy Cassidy and Allan Ahlberg.
