Barton Mathematics - The complete package for NZ teachers and students
All resources in this award-winning series by New Zealand author David Barton are closely aligned with recent developments in New Zealand Mathematics education.
The content is in line with best teaching practice, and have been expanded to respond to changes in the curriculum and assessment. These best-selling resources each feature three complementary units that, when used together, provide a complete solution for students and teachers.
Each package comprises a Student Textbook and a Student Workbook.
A complete solution for Level 6 of the New Zealand Mathematics Curriculum, the Gamma Mathematics and Gamma Fundamentals cover all thirteen NCEA Level 1 Mathematics Achievement Standards. The material in the books has been selected so that schools can design courses that meet the needs of all students. Most students will enter for 6 or 7 Achievement Standards at most, so a double-book solution means less waste but there is some overlap in Number and Statistics so a narrow choice is not dictated to schools.
Theta Mathematics has been written to reflect the current requirements of Mathematics and Statistics in the New Zealand Curriculum. In order to provide teachers and students with a comprehensive package that covers all fourteen Achievement Standards, Theta Mathematics is complemented by Theta Dimensions.
The chapters for each Achievement Standard are colour-coded to make them easy to find, and liberal use of colour throughout the book makes it easy and interesting to use. Helpful tags on the edge of each page enable students to navigate between the answer section and the related exercises.
Delta Mathematics is closely aligned with recent developments in New Zealand mathematics education. The content has been carefully revised in line with best teaching practice, and expanded to respond to changes in the curriculum and assessment. Delta Mathematics covers all eight of the NCEA Level 3 Mathematics Achievement Standards.
Delta Mathematics includes groundbreaking and balanced coverage of critical-path analysis, a new area in secondary mathematics, and incorporates:
Sigma Statistics is a statistics-focused textbook following in the tradition of Sigma Mathematics.
The sections on Achievement Standards 3.10, 3.11 and 3.12 provide ground-breaking coverage of the ultimate stages of the statistics enquiry cycle approach. The emphasis is on statistical inference and interpretation rather than on statistical calculation. These chapters feature statistical methods such as bootstrapping, randomisation, resampling and experimental design (treatment and response variables, allocation of treatments, etc.).
The Sigma Statistics Workbook follows the sequence of the seven NCEA Achievement Standards for Level 3 Statistics.
