Does the courseware align to WIDA?
text
Yes. All secondary courses build on the Global Scale of English (GSE), which maps to WIDA proficiency levels 2 through 6 via published crosswalk documents. Teachers can use the programs for WIDA accountability reporting and state proficiency tracking.
How does the GSE map to WIDA?
text
The Global Scale of English (GSE) is a 10–90 proficiency scale that Pearson maps to WIDA levels 1 through 6. The GSE Teacher Toolkit provides detailed crosswalks showing exactly how each learning objective aligns to WIDA Can Do descriptors. The crosswalk also includes CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) alignment.
How do I match the right series to my students' pathways?
text
Our eight series support three distinct pathways. For rapid academic English advancement, New Keystone (WIDA 2–5) accelerates students moving into grade-level content classes. For college and workforce readiness, Wider World (WIDA 4–6) prepares upper-secondary students for graduation and post-secondary success. For foundational and academic skills across all pathways, choose from Focus on Grammar, Azar-Hagen Grammar Series, and Side by Side Extra for grammar and communication fundamentals, or Longman Academic Writing, Longman Academic Reading Series, and NorthStar for college-level academic English. All include sheltered-instruction scaffolds and content language objectives. Talk to a Pearson rep to match your specific pathway model (college-prep, dual enrollment, career pathway).
Can we pilot a single grade or school before adopting district-wide?
text
Yes. Most schools run a pilot in a single grade or school for one semester before a multi-school adoption. Talk to a Pearson rep about pilot terms, free inspection copies, sample materials, and the implementation support included in a pilot agreement.
What about student data and privacy?
text
All student-facing platforms comply with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act), GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), and carry iKeepSafe certification. We follow FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) data protections and require verifiable parental consent on all student account creation. No behavioral advertising, no commercial profiling.
