What’s getting in the way of acting on assessment data?

Assessment should empower the people who matter most: educators and every student they teach.

You want every assessment to make a real difference for every student. But data that arrives too late, lives in too many places, or comes in formats no one can act on quickly doesn't make that possible.

The Pearson Assessment for Learning Suite (PALS) changes that. By bringing screening, formative, interim, progress monitoring, behavior, and gifted identification together, PALS gives educators a more complete picture of each student's progress—so they can act more quickly and with greater confidence.

Time you can’t get back
40% of educators say assessments always or often take up too much class time. When assessment data doesn't inform instruction, every minute spent testing is a minute lost from teaching.
true
A 26-point gap
70% of K-12 leaders say measuring progress toward learning targets is very important. Only 44% strongly agree their tools can do it. That gap is where students are falling through.
Data in too many places
Only 1 in 3 leaders say their data-driven decisions, tiered interventions, and screenings work well together. Pearson Assessment for Learning Suite (PALS) is designed to bring those threads closer—so decisions are clearer and faster.
true
A continuous picture, not a snapshot
With Pearson Assessment for Learning Suite (PALS), you see growth between checkpoints, not only at them, so you can intervene before the next benchmark.

Products built for every part of the learning story
false
The Pearson Assessment for Learning Suite (PALS) portfolio includes a comprehensive suite of products aligned to key assessment moments—from screening to progress monitoring and beyond. Each product stands on its own, but together, they give you a more complete picture of every learner, depending on your district's needs.

Does PALS fit our existing MTSS or RTI process?
text
Yes. PALS is built around the MTSS/RTI workflow, not bolted onto it. aimswebPlus runs universal screening and progress monitoring in one app, Navvy+ adds standards mastery and skills-based monitoring, Review360 handles the behavior side, and your team makes Tier 1, 2, and 3 decisions inside the same view.
How is PALS different from MAP, Star, or i-Ready?
text
Three things. First, PALS covers the full lifecycle in one connected suite, including behavior and gifted identification, where most peers stop at academic growth. Second, the underlying psychometrics come from 80+ years of Pearson assessment science, so the data holds up under high-stakes decisions. Third, we back it with practitioner-led training, not just a help desk.
How much class time does PALS take?
text
Less than most districts expect, and we measure it. PRoPL runs in about 35 minutes per subject. aimswebPlus benchmark windows are short and skill-targeted. Navvy+ checks are designed to fit inside a regular lesson.
What does implementation actually look like?
text
A typical first year covers platform set-up, roster and roster-sync, educator training (live or virtual), an MTSS workflow design session for your team, and ongoing coaching across the year. You get a named assessment consultant and a dedicated implementation team—not a shared queue.
How does PALS handle student data privacy?
text
PALS products meet the standards US districts expect for K-12 data: Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)-aligned data practices, Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)-compliant handling for students under 13, and district-controlled rostering. Parental consent and access requests are supported in product. Full data-handling and security documentation is available for your procurement team.
Can we start with one PALS product and add more later?
text
Yes. Most districts start with the product that solves their most urgent gap—usually aimswebPlus for MTSS, Navvy+ for standards monitoring, or Review360 for behavior—and add others as the workflow proves out. The suite is designed to make adding the next product feel like turning on a feature, not buying a new system.
Is PALS appropriate for very small or very large districts?
text
Both. We deliver more than 100 million tests a year across 23 states and 3,000 district partnerships, from small rural districts up to the largest urban systems in the country. Pricing, implementation depth, and support are scaled to your size.
Where can I see real data and case studies?
text
Your Pearson specialist can share district-specific outcome data and research examples that match your size and demographics. We also publish original research openly—including the K-12 Assessment Research Survey and the Assessment Evolved report—at pearson.com.
