PASeries Algebra I from Pearson Education honored with "Technology & Learning" Magazine's 2006 Award of Excellence

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Pearson Education announced today that PASeries® Algebra I was selected to receive a 2006 Award of Excellence from "Technology & Learning" magazine. The 24-year-old recognition program honors innovative applications that break new ground in some important way and best-of-breed examples that demonstrate clear superiority over similar products in the market. This year's 55 winners were chosen by more than 35 educator-judges who evaluated the entries. The winning products will be featured in the December 2006 issue of the magazine.

"This year's educator-judges certainly gave all entries a grueling test-drive," said Susan McLester, editor-in-chief, "Technology & Learning" magazine. "These award winners reflect the highest quality in education technology products today."

The newest product in the PASeries (Progress Assessment Series®) product line, PASeries Algebra I was developed for students in grades 6-12 and uses The Quantile Framework® for Mathematics to provide regular progress monitoring of student achievement and to forecast growth toward state performance standards or grade-level expectations.

PASeries Algebra I tests are designed for completion in one class period and for delivery either on paper or online with quick electronic reporting of results. PASeries Algebra I assessments are scientifically valid, reliable and research-based formative tests that include six progress-monitoring tests and five diagnostic tests for targeting instruction.

"We developed PASeries to provide schools and districts with a formative assessment tool that offers actionable information for improving student performance toward state or district standards," said Douglas Kubach, president, Pearson Educational Measurement, developer of PASeries. "It is exciting to have PASeries Algebra I recognized by educators as one of the highest quality education products available today."

In addition to PASeries Algebra I, the PASeries product line includes PASeries Writing, PASeries Reading and PASeries Mathematics. During the 2005-2006 school year, the progress of more than 130,000 students in more than 200 school districts nationwide was evaluated with PASeries formative assessments.
