Penguin on Obama
With all eyes on the new US President, Penguin is to publish Obama's inaugural address in the US and the UK on 4 February. The address will be accompanied by key texts which influenced Obama, including Abraham Lincoln's own inaugural addresses, the Gettysburg Address and Ralph Waldo Emerson's Self-Reliance.
On 16 February, Presidents Day in the US, Penguin will also publish Obama: The Historic Journey, in partnership with The New York Times. It tells the remarkable story of Barack Obama's journey to the White House through coverage of the election from The New York Times.
Penguin's Viking imprint will also publish an edition of the book for young readers - written to appeal to and inspire 8-12 year olds, with different text and a new selection of photographs and illustrations. From his unique childhood to the definitive moments of his campaigns, children will be fascinated to learn about the 'skinny kid with the funny name' who rose to become one of America's youngest presidents.
