Pearson has been named the top company in the media sector for the third consecutive year in the annual review for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes, which measures economic, environmental and social performance.
The review is conducted by SAM, an investment boutique focused on sustainability investing, for the Dow Jones Sustainability and Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability indexes.
The review analyses general and industry-specific sustainability criteria in 58 industry sectors, and identifies the top company in 19 Supersectors including media, telecommunications and financial services. Pearson heads the media Supersector this year, as it did in the reviews announced in 2007 and 2008.
Pearson achieved top scores in the media sector in such areas as corporate governance, environmental policy, ethical conduct and corporate citizenship.
