Penguin books win at the National Book Awards

Penguin books won two awards on 17 November at the National Book Awards in the U.S., in the Young People’s Literature and the Poetry categories. The honours were announced at a dinner in New York.

MockingbirdKathryn Erskine won the Young People Literature award for her book Mockingbird, about an 11-year-old girl with Asberger syndrome. Mockingbird is published by Philomel Books, a division of Penguin Young Readers Group.

LightheadTerrance Hayes won the Poetry award for Lighthead, published by Viking Penguin, which investigates how we construct experience, a work described as “fuelled by an imagination that enlightens, delights, and ignites.”
