Kathryn Alevizos has taught English in the UK, France and Greece. She has a BA honours degree in French from the University of Liverpool and holds the Cambridge DELTA. She has also been involved in teacher training and was a CELTA trainer at colleges of further education both in Birmingham and Bristol. She has been an examiner in the UK and has written a wide range of exam material over the last ten years as well as online teaching and learning material. Kathryn now lives in Gloucestershire with her husband and two children.
Rose Aravanis has been involved in ELT since 1993 when she took the big step to move from Australia to Greece. For the next 18 years she worked extensively in the field as a teacher, an Examiner (Cambridge and IELTS), a Teacher Trainer, an Examiner Trainer and an ELT author. While based mainly in Greece, she was fortunate to also have the chance to work in Cyprus, Ukraine, Malta, Albania, and the UK. In 2010, she moved back to her home city of Melbourne, Australia, where she is now based. As a Pearson author she has been involved in a number of exam projects – KEY for Schools Practice Tests Plus, YLE Practice Tests Plus, and most recently, Gold Experience A1.
Carolyn Barraclough is a qualified and experienced teacher and teacher trainer. Carolyn taught EFL in Greece and the UK for many years before moving into EFL publishing, working as an educational consultant and editor for over 15 years. Her publishing background has given her the opportunity to work closely with teachers and students from many different countries and incorporate their concerns and values into her material.
Carolyn is the author of several successful course-books, including Next Move, Move It and the BESA award-winning Activate! for Pearson. Her special interests are motivating young teenagers and maximising memorability - values which are reflected in Gold Experience.
Lynda Edwards spent the first part of her working life teaching EFL to international students before going on to becoming involved in teacher training. She has written several course books for students from A2 level through to C1 as well as skills books, resource books, work books, Teacher’s books, tests and graded readers. She also writes for many Cambridge ESOL examinations. When not writing she enjoys reading and walking her dog ‘Bailey’ in the New Forest.
Suzanne Gaynor is an experienced teacher and teacher training and used to own a school in Spain. She has been writing materials for Pearson since 2005 and has co-written numerous ELT titles, including Activate!, Cosmic B2 and Gold Experience. Suzanne believes in maintaining a foothold in the classroom and regularly teaches in Oxford. She says it is the students who inspire her to write her own materials. More recently, Suzanne has taken on additional roles as a judge on a standardising panel for the Trinity ISE exam and as a member of the Educational Writers Group for the Society of Authors.
Megan Roderick first taught EFL in the UK and has since spent 25 years teaching and writing in Greece, where her wide experience of teaching students of all ages and abilities – both at her own language school and elsewhere – has informed her writing of English Language materials. She is a qualified secondary school teacher with an MEd in TEFL. Megan has authored or co-authored a wide range of publications including secondary grammar courses, Michigan ECCE and ECPE Exam Practice books, Primary materials (Our Discovery Island) and Exams courses (Cosmic B1, Activate B1+, Expert Proficiency) and the brand new Gold Experience. Her particular interests are the use of grammar as a vehicle for meaning, the process of conveying humour through the manipulation of language, and bringing the language alive through dialogue and story.
Mary Stephens is a qualified teacher (PGCE), and holds the RSA Dip TEFL and an M.Ed. in English Language Teaching. She has 28 years of teaching experience, both in Spain and in the UK, teaching EFL to children and adults at a wide range of levels. Her most recent post was at a College of Further Education just outside London. She has been an examiner for the Cambridge suite of exams, both oral and written and for Edexcel, where she has marked GCSE English written papers. Mary has written and co-written numerous ELT titles at all levels, from Beginners to Proficiency, including the highly successful Practice Writing, Proficiency Reading and Proficiency Writing, Michigan Gold, First Certificate: Fast Track to First Certificate, and Get on Track for First Certificate. She has also co-written the teen exams courses Activate B2 and Gold Experience. Now a full time writer, Mary lives in Bournemouth.
