Wicks to lead Pearson's New Management Education Business

Pearson plc, the international media group, has appointed Pippa Wicks as Managing Director of its newly created Management Education business.

The new business will bring together the distance learning management education operations of the Financial Times group with the extensive intellectual properties of Pearson Education. Pippa Wicks, 36, joins Pearson from Courtaulds Textiles plc, where she has been Group Finance Director since 1993. Before joining Courtaulds, she was a senior manager with Bain & Company, the management consultancy. She will report to Pearson chief executive, Marjorie Scardino.

Marjorie Scardino said:

"Life long and distance learning in management skills and development is one of the fastest growing sectors of the education market. This new enterprise will combine the authority the Financial Times brand commands in the international business community with the pedagogic pedigree of the Pearson Education imprints. We are very proud to have recruited someone of Pippa Wicks' quality to create and nurture this business."

The newly created Management Education business will bring together a number of successful initiatives currently undertaken by both the Financial Times group and Pearson Education. These include distance learning programmes operating under the Financial Times Management brand including those produced by the Open College and the Heriot-Watt University MBA. Pearson Education is one of the world's leading management education publishers.
