She will head up one of the most respected and talented publishing teams in the industry, who have worked together over ten years and proved that their combined experience, talent, wisdom and passion is a winning formula for Putnam's continued success. In making the announcement, David Shanks said, ?This is a perfect fit. Carole's publishing list of New York Times best-selling authors mirrors Putnam's best-selling list in many ways. And yet Carole's personal style and savvy is unique. Her colleagues at Putnam, and across the corporation, have tremendous respect for her and are eager to help her lead Putnam.?
Susan Petersen Kennedy added, ?I have known Carole for years and she is simply one of the best publishers with whom I have worked. She has helped bring a new energy and focus to Dutton, strengthening its roster of brand name best-selling authors and launching the careers of new writers. Her track record at Penguin Putnam and at other houses during her career makes her a natural choice.?
Carole Baron said, ?I am looking forward to taking on this new position. Putnam has an incredibly committed and talented publishing team, it is a market leader in New York Times hardcover bestsellers and its list includes some of the most well-known authors in the world, many of them my personal favorites.?
Mrs. Baron will also continue to serve as President of Dutton. In two years, she has brought together a team who have helped strengthen the Dutton list by publishing best-selling authors and building others for the future.
