Three Golden Quills for Penguin India
Penguin India has swept the board at the Indiaplaza Golden Quill Awards in Bangalore, with two of its bestselling titles winning all three awards.
The Readers' Choice Awards, decided by an online poll, went to Amitav Ghosh's Sea of Poppies for Fiction and to Nandan Nilekani's Imagining India for Non Fiction while Sea of Poppies also bagged the Jury Award for Best Book.
The Indiaplaza Golden Quill Awards, which were set up last year, are organized by India's largest online bookstore and reward the best fiction and non-fiction writing of the year by an Indian author. The Awards are unique in involving readers in the final choice of the winners.
The news continues a winning streak for Penguin India - earlier this year, Sea of Poppies won joint prize for Best Work in English Fiction and T'ta Professor (by Manohar Shyam Joshi, translated into English by Ira Pande) won the award for Indian Language Fiction at the Vodafone Crossword Awards.
