Pearson appoints new Chief Legal Officer
LONDON: May 21 2020: Pearson, the world’s learning company, today announces the appointment of Cinthia Granzo Nespoli as its new Chief Legal Officer. Cinthia has more than 16 years of international legal experience and joined Pearson in 2014, as part of the Grupo Multi acquisition, where she was the Head of Legal and Franchising. Cinthia replaces Bjarne Tellmann, who is stepping down at the beginning of July to take on a new role at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK).
John Fallon, Chief Executive at Pearson said: “Cinthia’s track record in leading and developing high-performing global teams, and handling complex legal and reputational matters makes her the ideal candidate to lead our legal function and join our executive management team. We thank Bjarne for his contributions at Pearson and wish him all the best for his new role.”
Cinthia Granzo Nespoli said: “I am excited to join the leadership team and look forward to leading Pearson’s world-class legal team to support the business in achieving its strategy to become the leader in digital, lifelong learning.”
Cinthia is currently Pearson’s Senior Vice President, International, Legal and Corporate Affairs. In addition to her legal responsibilities, for the past four years, she has also led Pearson’s International Corporate Affairs team, managing corporate brand and reputation in numerous markets around the world. Prior to joining Pearson, she held leadership positions in the manufacturing sector at multinational companies.
Born in Brazil, Cinthia was admitted to the Brazilian bar in 2004 and earned her law degree from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas and a post-graduate degree in tax law from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo. She also has professional business qualifications from the Ashbridge Business School in the UK and Northeastern University in the US.
