Better insights about student learning
We can use technology to go beyond multiple-choice assessments and use interactive ways of assessing mastery of a particular learning objective.
The flexibility of online adaptive testing holds several advantages for both students and educators. Because educators have a better picture of what a student knows and can do — not just what they’ve memorized — they get better insights about student learning.
The more adaptive a test is, the more precise the estimate of the test taker’s abilities. Educators can receive detailed insight on where a student lies across grade levels, rather than his or her mastery within a specific grade level.
And, often, educators can get these fine-tuned answers with fewer test items since students are only tested as much as is necessary to prove their knowledge level.
