  • Sagittal plane

Sagittal plane divides the body into right and left sections.

  • Frontal (coronal) plane

Frontal plane divides the body into anterior (front) and posterior (back) sections.

  • Transverse plane

Transverse plane divides the body into superior (top) and inferior (bottom) sections.

  • Integumentary system main function

The integumentary system (skin) protects the body from drying out and pathogens.

  • Skeletal system main function

The skeletal system provides support for the body.

  • Muscular system main function

The muscular system enables body movement.

  • Respiratory system main function

The respiratory system (lungs, trachea) facilitates gas exchange.

  • Digestive system main function

The digestive system breaks down food and absorbs nutrients.

  • Endocrine system main function

The endocrine system produces hormones to control body functions.

  • Nervous system main function

The nervous system (brain, spinal cord) controls the body.

  • Cardiovascular system main function

The cardiovascular system moves blood throughout the body.

  • Urinary system main function

The urinary system regulates fluid levels and removes waste.

  • Reproductive system main function

The reproductive system produces gametes (sex cells).

  • Dorsal body cavity components

The dorsal cavity includes the cranial cavity (brain) and vertebral cavity (spinal cord).

  • Ventral body cavity components

The ventral cavity includes the thoracic cavity (heart, lungs) and abdominal cavity (stomach, liver, spleen, intestines, kidneys, pancreas).

  • Serous membrane layers

Serous membranes have two layers: visceral (inner) and parietal (outer).

  • Pericardium

Pericardium is the serous membrane around the heart.

  • Pleura

Pleura is the serous membrane around the lungs.

  • Peritoneum

Peritoneum is the serous membrane around abdominal organs.
