Define Appendicular region.
Pertaining to the arms and legs.
Name three anterior body regions.
Examples include Abdominal, Mammary, and Axillary.
Name three posterior body regions.
Examples include Dorsal, Lumbar, and Scapular.
What does Superior mean in body orientation?
Toward the head or upper part of a structure.
What does Inferior mean in body orientation?
Away from the head or toward the lower part of a structure.
Define Anterior and Posterior.
Anterior means toward the front of the body; Posterior means toward the back.
What do Medial and Lateral mean?
Medial means toward the midline of the body; Lateral means away from the midline.
Explain Proximal and Distal.
Proximal means closer to the point of attachment; Distal means farther from the point of attachment.
What is a Sagittal section?
A vertical plane dividing the body into right and left parts.
What is a Midsagittal section?
A sagittal plane that divides the body into equal right and left halves.
What is a Parasagittal section?
A sagittal plane offset from the midline, dividing the body into unequal right and left parts.
Define Frontal (Coronal) section.
A vertical plane dividing the body into anterior (front) and posterior (back) parts.
Define Transverse (Cross) section.
A horizontal plane dividing the body into superior (upper) and inferior (lower) parts.
What are the subdivisions of the Dorsal body cavity?
The Cranial cavity and the Spinal cavity.
What are the subdivisions of the Ventral body cavity?
The Thoracic cavity, Abdominal cavity, and Pelvic cavity.
Name the four Abdominopelvic quadrants.
Right Upper Quadrant (RUQ), Left Upper Quadrant (LUQ), Right Lower Quadrant (RLQ), Left Lower Quadrant (LLQ).
List some Abdominopelvic regions.
Umbilical, Epigastric, Hypogastric, Iliac, Lumbar, Hypochondriac.
What does Superficial and Deep mean in body orientation?
Superficial means toward or on the surface; Deep means away from the surface, more internal.
