    sense of smell.

    controls how your eyes move and how your pupils react to light.

  • 4-Trochlear-


     “pulley shaped ligament” 

    - Moves eyes laterally and downwards. 

    - Supplies the superior oblique with nerves.

  • 5-Trigeminal-


    motor fibers elevate the mandible while chewing. 

    -sensory fibers to scalp and face 

    - largest cranial nerve

      the gaze while turning your eyes laterally.

    -motor control of the lateral rectus 

  • 7- Facial-


    responsible for facial expression, taste, tear and saliva production.

  • 8 - Vestibulocochlear -


    responsible for hearing and balance.

  • 9 - glossopharyngeal-


    Responsible for swallowing 

    -Controls tongue and pharynx.

  • 10- vagus- 


    -detects CO2 concentration

    -heart rate, digestion, breathing,

     immune responses

  • 11- Accessory-


    -Allows you to shrug with shoulders

    -Muscles for speech

    - part of the vagus nerve

  • 12- hypoglossal- 


    -Muscles of tongue.

    - means under the tounge
