    Origin: inferior border of rib above

    Insertion: superior border of rib below

    Action: elevate rib cage & aid in inspiration

  • Internal Intercostals

    H

    Origin: superior border of rib below

    Insertion: inferior border of rib above

    Action: depress rib cage & helps in expiration

  • Diaphragm

    H

    Origin: inferior border of ribs and sternum

    Insertion: central tendon of diaphragm

    Action: inspiration
