  • Natural killer cells?

-Perforin and granzyme = lyse enemies

    -Release inflammatory chemicals = signal

  • Phagocytic cells?

-Macrophages: engulf pathogens, antigen presenting cells

-Neutrofiles: clean up debris, dead/injured cells and pathogens

  • Antimicrobial proteins?

-Complement proteins: group of plasma proteins that bind to pathogens and lyse them

    -Interferons: prevent proliferation of viruses

  • Lymphocytes?

    B-lymphocytes: produce antibodies, humoral system

    T-lymphocytes: attack pathogens, cellular system

  • Antigen presenting cells?

    -Dendritic cells

    -Macrophages

    -B-lymphocytes

  • T-lymphocyte types?

-Killer T-cells (cytotoxic cells): seeks identified target

-Helper T-cells: recruit other cells to fight invaders

    -Regulatory T-cells: supress lymphocyte activity

  • What is double recognition?

-Helper T-cell must identify the antigen presenting cell as self and the presented antigen as non-self

-Couples with non-self antigen and self-glycoprotein on APC at the same time
