Understand the anatomy of the kidney, focusing on the blood vessels involved in the venous drainage system.
Identify the starting point of blood flow in the renal cortex, which is the interlobular vein.
Trace the path of blood from the interlobular vein to the arcuate vein, which is located at the border between the renal cortex and medulla.
Follow the blood flow from the arcuate vein to the interlobar vein, which runs between the renal pyramids.
Finally, trace the blood flow from the interlobar vein to the renal vein, which exits the kidney and drains into the inferior vena cava.
