Guida verificata passo dopo passo1
Understand that meiosis is a type of cell division that reduces the chromosome number by half, resulting in the production of gametes or spores.
Recall that meiosis consists of two consecutive divisions: meiosis I and meiosis II.
In meiosis I, homologous chromosomes are separated into two cells, each containing half the number of chromosomes as the original cell.
In meiosis II, the sister chromatids in each of the two cells from meiosis I are separated, resulting in four genetically distinct daughter cells.
Conclude that the process of meiosis results in four daughter cells, each with half the chromosome number of the original cell.
