Guida verificata passo dopo passo1
Understand the plant life cycle, which alternates between two main stages: the sporophyte and the gametophyte.
Recognize that the sporophyte stage is diploid, meaning it has two sets of chromosomes, and it produces spores through meiosis.
Identify that the gametophyte stage is haploid, meaning it has one set of chromosomes, and it develops from the spores produced by the sporophyte.
Learn that the gametophyte is responsible for producing gametes, which are the egg and sperm cells, through mitosis.
Conclude that the structure in the plant life cycle that produces egg and sperm cells is the gametophyte.
