Understand that the periodic table is organized into horizontal and vertical sections to classify elements based on their properties.
Recognize that the vertical columns of the periodic table are called 'Groups' or 'Families', which contain elements with similar chemical properties.
Identify that the horizontal rows of the periodic table are called 'Periods'. Each period corresponds to the filling of a different electron shell.
Recall that 'Blocks' refer to sections of the periodic table based on the electron subshell being filled (s, p, d, f blocks), not rows or columns.
Therefore, the term used to refer to the rows of the periodic table is 'Periods'.
