Identify the terms in the polynomial: 4x^2y and -100y.
Determine the greatest common factor (GCF) of the coefficients and variables. The GCF of 4 and 100 is 4, and the common variable is y.
Factor out the GCF from each term. This means dividing each term by the GCF, which is 4y.
Rewrite the polynomial with the GCF factored out: 4y(x^2 - 25).
Recognize that x^2 - 25 is a difference of squares, which can be further factored into (x - 5)(x + 5).
