hey everyone in this example, we need to pick the property that is not a property of an acid as our final choice. So looking at choice A it says that acids produce hydro ni um ion in water. It says that acids react with active metals. So we are actually going to also agree with the statement and we want to go ahead and consider the following reaction where we have zinc which is an active medal reacting with hydrochloric acid, which we recall is one of our strong assets. This is going to form the product where we form Zn cl two as a product as well as H two gas. Now, to balance this reaction out, we're going to place a coefficient of two in front of our hydrochloric acid. And as you can see, we definitely have an active medal reacting with an acid. Whenever we have this combination, they typically form a gas being H two gas, hydrogen gas. And in order to understand how this happens, we want to recall that think is and oxidized adam. We want to recognize that it gets oxidized because it gains or releases two electrons. So it's ZN two plus as an as a caddy on and it's going to release those two electrons to get its catatonic charge. And so how we form the hydrogen gas is that these two electrons that the zinc releases are going to be picked up by protons by specifically to h plus protons. See it says that acids react with bases to form salt and water. And we want to recognize that this type of description is describing a neutralization reaction. So we can think of the following example where we have a strong acid hcl reacting with a strong base sodium hydroxide where we're going to go through a double displacement or double replacement, where we form the products sodium chloride and water liquid water. And so because we also would agree that this is a true property of an acid as a type of reaction. We can rule out choices because we don't want to choose that as a answer choice. Moving on to choice D. It says that acids taste sour. And we actually would also agree with the statement as a property of an acid.
