Step 1: Understand the concept of kinship descent systems in sociology. These systems determine how individuals trace their ancestry and inheritance through family lines.
Step 2: Define Patrilineal descent: a system where kinship and inheritance are traced exclusively through the father's lineage.
Step 3: Define Matrilineal descent: a system where kinship and inheritance are traced exclusively through the mother's lineage.
Step 4: Define Bilineal descent (also called bilateral descent): a system where kinship and inheritance are traced through both the mother's and father's sides of the family.
Step 5: Analyze the problem statement: since Alex's culture traces kinship and inheritance through both parents' sides, the culture most likely follows Bilineal descent.
