Chapter 1-2
Termini in questo insieme (19)
Range
Subtract between the maximum and the minimum data entries in the set.
Range = (Max.data entry) - (Min.data entry)
Mean (or average)
The sum of all the numbers divided by the number of data entries.
Median
The number that lies in the middle of the data set when it is ordered from least to greatest.
if the data set is uneven then add the two numbers in the middle and divide by 2.
Mode
The number that occurs the most in the data set.
If two numbers are occur the most in the set it is bimodal.
Population mean
\(\mu=\frac{\Sigma x}{N}\)
Sample mean
\(x=\frac{\Sigma x}{n}\)
Population Variance
\(\sigma^2=\frac{\Sigma\left(x-\mu\right)^2}{N}\)
Population Standard Deviation
\(\sigma=\sqrt{\sigma^2}=\sqrt{\frac{\Sigma\left(x-\mu\right)^2}{N}}\)
Uniform Distribution
All entries or classes in the distribution have equal or approximately equal frequencies.
Skewed Left
The tail of the graph descends to the left.
Skewed Right
The tail of the graph descends to the right.
Qualitative Data
Connected to a person, no description, cannot be counted or measured.
Quantitative Data
Can be measured or counted.
Sample
Sample size within a population.
Population
Collection of a whole population, outcome, or response.
Class width
The amount that is in between each class.
What is Statistics
Collecting, organizing, analyze and interpret data to make.
Data
Observations, responses, or counts.
Stem-and-Leaf Plot
The stem consists all but the last digit of the number, the leaf is the last digit.
