  • Origin of the biceps brachii

The biceps brachii has two origins: the short head from the coracoid process of the scapula and the long head from the supraglenoid tubercle of the scapula.
  • Insertion of the biceps brachii

The biceps brachii inserts on the radial tuberosity and the bicipital aponeurosis into the deep fascia on the medial part of the forearm.
  • Origin of the triceps brachii

The triceps brachii has three heads: the long head from the infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula, the lateral head from the posterior humerus above the radial groove, and the medial head from the posterior humerus below the radial groove.
  • Insertion of the triceps brachii

The triceps brachii inserts on the olecranon process of the ulna.
  • Origin of the deltoid muscle

The deltoid originates from the lateral third of the clavicle, the acromion, and the spine of the scapula.
  • Insertion of the deltoid muscle

The deltoid inserts on the deltoid tuberosity of the humerus.
  • Origin of the pectoralis major

The pectoralis major originates from the clavicular head (medial half of the clavicle) and the sternocostal head (sternum and costal cartilages 1-6).
  • Insertion of the pectoralis major

The pectoralis major inserts on the lateral lip of the intertubercular sulcus of the humerus.
  • Origin of the latissimus dorsi

The latissimus dorsi originates from the spinous processes of T7-L5 vertebrae, the thoracolumbar fascia, the iliac crest, and the inferior 3 or 4 ribs.
  • Insertion of the latissimus dorsi

The latissimus dorsi inserts on the floor of the intertubercular sulcus of the humerus.
  • Origin of the rectus femoris

The rectus femoris originates from the anterior inferior iliac spine and the superior margin of the acetabulum.
  • Insertion of the rectus femoris

The rectus femoris inserts on the tibial tuberosity via the patellar ligament.
  • Origin of the gastrocnemius

The gastrocnemius has two heads originating from the medial and lateral condyles of the femur.
  • Insertion of the gastrocnemius

The gastrocnemius inserts on the posterior surface of the calcaneus via the Achilles tendon.
  • Origin of the sternocleidomastoid

The sternocleidomastoid originates from the manubrium of the sternum and the medial third of the clavicle.
  • Insertion of the sternocleidomastoid

The sternocleidomastoid inserts on the mastoid process of the temporal bone and the lateral half of the superior nuchal line of the occipital bone.
  • Origin of the trapezius

The trapezius originates from the external occipital protuberance, the ligamentum nuchae, and the spinous processes of C7-T12 vertebrae.
  • Insertion of the trapezius

The trapezius inserts on the lateral third of the clavicle, the acromion, and the spine of the scapula.
  • Origin of the gluteus maximus

The gluteus maximus originates from the dorsal ilium, the posterior surface of the sacrum and coccyx, and the sacrotuberous ligament.
  • Insertion of the gluteus maximus

The gluteus maximus inserts on the iliotibial tract and the gluteal tuberosity of the femur.
