hey everyone in this example we need to determine which of the given molecules contains a carbon carbon nail group. So we'll draw the carbondale group where we have the carbon atom number two here and we have a metal group here. We have our second carbon atom here bonded to double bonded to an oxygen where it's bonded to another carbon atom. So we're going to continue our molecule here. And because we have the prefix spent, we should recall that pent tells us we have five carbon atoms. So we are going to form two more bonds to carbon. To complete this molecule. So right now counting up our carbons, we have a total of 1234 and then five here, Which is our molecule for two pentagon. So we should recognize by now after drawing these molecules that a carbon eel group appears where we have a carbon atom double bonded to an oxygen, where that carbon is bonded to two other carbon chains. Or we can say our groups. And so looking at our molecules above, we can see that we have a carbon here double bonded to an oxygen where we have this carbon also bonded to two other carbon chains.
